Shelter Homes
Lahore is a city of 11.13 million people, there are more than 1,85,000 homeless souls in Lahore alone. Thousands of labourers come to the provincial capital for earning a livelihood and they have to stay here for prolonged periods. Already living on the edge, many of the labourers have to spend nights in the open sky, if they fail to find work for days. These unfortunate souls mostly remain under-fed and are forced to either seek alms or get free food from different shrines - Data Darbar being the most famous among those. Disappointed and dejected, hundreds of these labourers also end up in the drug trap each year and become a permanent burden on the society at large. Before the initiation of this project for homeless, people were sleeping along almost all major city roads, markets, bus and railway stations was a common sight. With this noble initiative of the Government, the picture of the city will hopefully get better. The Government's step is very timely as the mercury has dropped and the shelters will save the homeless from getting sick. Five shelter homes have been established in Lahore under the supervision of Commissioner Lahore Division with the aim to facilitate the poor and travelers a free of cost safe place to stay along with free food.
Clean and Green Punjab
Clean and Green Punjab is a major element of hundred days’ agenda of the Government. This initiative of is implemented in the four Districts of Lahore Division with the aim to make Lahore Division clean and green so that the general public may breathe in a clean and pollution free atmosphere.

Lahore Fish Market
The Lahore fish wholesale market is supplying around 100 - 120 tons of fish daily all over the country during winter season. This is the largest market of freshwater fish in Pakistan that exports it to more than 15 countries regularly, including EU, African and Middle Eastern countries. District Administration under the supervision of Commissioner Lahore Division is striving to shift the fish market from its residential area of Urdu Bazar to provide a neat and clean environment.
Afforestation in Lahore
The campaign has been initiated in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ drive, launched last October. Designed by the Lahore Commissioner, the project has been stipulated for a period of three to five or five years for design, plantation and maintenance. Cultural Aspects
Many endeavors have been taken with the coordination of Parks & Horticulture Authority for the beautification of Lahore which includes modernization of bridges and underpasses, flowers and tree plantation in Lahore Division like installation of Mural Wall at Mall Road, beautification of entry and exit points of Lahore and tree plantation at different barren areas of Lahore with alliance of Lahore Walled City Authority. Many actions have been taken under supervision of Commissioner Lahore Division for restoration of old Lahore. Some of the archaeological sites and historic places of Lahore have also been geo-tagged on website of Archaeology Department.
Public Toilets
Public Toilets were installed with alliance of Deputy Commissioners for public facility. Till now the toilets are installed at Raiwind Road Mauza Pajjian Lahore, Karim Block Market, Allama Iqbal Town Mauza Bheikhewal, Lari Adda Lahore, Fateh Garh Pul Lahore, Dayal Pul Lahore, NADRA Office Mauza Raiwind Lahore, Bara Dari Ground near Mian Meer Darbar, and Fruit & Vegetable Market (Sabzi mandi). While construction of such facilities at Canal Bank Road Chowk (Nehar Wala Pul), Mauza Icchra Lahore and Cantt are in progress.
Model Bus Sheds
Model Bus Sheds were installed at Mall Road, Jail Road and Canal Road with coordination of Parks & Horticulture Authority to facilitate the general public. The basic purpose of these Bus Shed is:
- To provide the protection to passengers from Sun, storm in Summer and safe place in rainy season
- To facilitate the people of Lahore with improved Urban Transport Infrastructure
- It is a designated place where buses stop for passengers to board or alight from a bus and prevent passengers from trying to board or alight in hazardous situations such as at intersections or turning and is not using the curb lane
Traffic Congestion Solutions
Traffic congestion at Shahdara Chowk has been redressed under the supervision of Commissioner Lahore Division. Issues related to Mall Road were cleared with the help of District Administration as well.
Punjab Safe City
As many as 8,000 CCTV cameras have been installed under the project to make Lahore one of the safest cities in the world. Automatic system of identification of vehicles registration number plates, e-Challan, red light monitoring as well as the latest communication system have been put in place under this composite system.
