Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA), LDA is a regular part of LDA, created in 1987,under section 10 of Lahore Development Act 1975.
Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency LDA, was created in 1987 with the mandate to perform transportation planning & traffic engineering projects in the Lahore City (Gazette notification published on December 8, 1987, upon the demand of the Asian Development Bank to carry out the traffic engineering interventions / improvements in Lahore, as a part of Punjab Urban Development Programme (PUDP). Ever since, TEPA has been playing a significant role in resolving the traffic related issues through improvement of road geometries and operation and maintenance of Traffic Signals. In fact, TEPA was the first agency of its kind in Pakistan and following its footprints, other authorities also created their respective wings to take care of their traffic engineering problems with the active assistance of TEPA (e.g. Peshawar Development Authority, Faisalabad Development Authority etc.). TEPA also rendered its expertise to various city governments; including Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Jehlum, Sahiwal, Multan, Quetta Development Authority, Army authorities and DHA etc.
As a result of the decision by the Government, role of LDA has been enhanced from Lahore City to entire Lahore Division comprising four districts; which means, TEPA will also have to extend its services to resolve the traffic engineering problems of Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, in addition to Lahore itself.
